What is Suno Mashup?
Suno Mashup is an endpoint that combines two songs you already made with Suno into one new track. It works on clips, not on uploaded files: you first run a Suno generation (music, extend, cover, and so on), take two clip IDs from the finished tasks, and send them to suno-ai/mashup in a clip_ids array. The model listens to both and writes a fresh song that carries parts of each. You choose the model version with mv, and you can push the result toward a genre with tags, give it new lyrics through prompt, name it with title, drop vocals with make_instrumental, or rule out styles with negative_tags. The task returns two new clips, the same shape as a normal music generation, and both source clips stay as they were.
Key features of Suno Mashup
Four things define how the mashup call behaves.
Exactly two source clips
clip_ids takes two Suno clip IDs, no more and no fewer. That fixed shape makes the call easy to wire into a "pick two songs" UI, and the output is a real blend of both tracks.
Steer the blend with tags and lyrics
Add tags such as "lofi piano, late night" to set the style of the new song, and negative_tags to keep unwanted genres out. Pass prompt with your own lyrics if the mashup should sing something new.
Three v6 model versions
Set mv to chirp-hawk for the default v6 model, chirp-hawk-wild for more unpredictable results, or chirp-goose for the faster v6 Mini.
Two new clips per request
Like music generation, every mashup task returns a pair of clips. You get two takes on the blend to choose from, and each new clip has its own ID for further edits.
Best for
Merging two drafts
When two generations each have something good, blend them into one song instead of regenerating from scratch.
Genre fusions
Mash a folk track with an electronic one and set tags to the hybrid style you want.
Vocal plus instrumental pairs
Blend a vocal-led song with an instrumental clip to get a fuller arrangement.
Medleys of related tracks
Join two songs from the same project into one track for a recap or a highlight reel.
DJ transition material
Generate a track that bridges two songs in a set, then cut it to length afterwards.
Use cases
A music app can let users tick two songs from their library and press "Mash up", sending both clip IDs plus a style field to the endpoint and showing the two results side by side. A playlist tool can blend the opening and closing tracks of a set into a transition song. A content studio running batch generations can pair the strongest two drafts for each brief and mash them as a second pass. If you need a looser link between songs, the Suno Inspiration API takes one to four references instead, and source clips for either call come from Suno music generation.

It takes two clips from earlier Suno generations and writes a new song that blends them. You pass the two clip IDs in clip_ids, pick a model version with mv, and can steer the result with style tags, lyrics, a title, or an instrumental flag. Each request returns a pair of new clips.
Exactly two. The clip_ids array must hold two IDs. If you want to guide a new song with one to four references instead of blending two, use the Suno Inspiration endpoint (suno-ai/inspiration).
From any finished Suno job on your account, such as music generation, extend, or cover. The completed task returns clips, and each clip has an ID you can pass straight into clip_ids.
Set mv to chirp-hawk (v6, the default choice), chirp-hawk-wild (v6 tuned for experimental output), or chirp-goose (v6 Mini, faster and lighter).
Yes. Put the lyrics in prompt and the style in tags. Set make_instrumental to true if you want the blend without vocals, and use negative_tags to list styles the result should avoid.
Yes. Mashup generates new audio, so each request is billed. The live rate is on the pricing page, and failed tasks are never charged.
