What is Suno Adjust Speed?
Suno Adjust Speed is an edit endpoint that changes the tempo of a Suno clip you already have. It works on a clip_id, the ID of a clip returned by an earlier Suno task such as music generation or Extend, so there is nothing to upload. You send that ID with a speed_multiplier between 0.25 and 4.0, and the finished task returns a new clip in the same clips format as music generation. The source clip is not modified. By default the pitch moves with the speed, which gives the familiar sound of sped-up and slowed edits. Set keep_pitch to true when you need a new tempo without the key shifting, for example to line a track up with a DJ set or a video cut. An optional title names the new clip.
Key features of Suno Adjust Speed
Four parameters, and only two of them are required.
Tempo from 0.25x to 4x
speed_multiplier accepts any value from 0.25 to 4.0. Around 0.8 gives a slowed version, 1.2 to 1.3 gives a sped-up cut, and the extremes are useful for sound design.
Optional pitch lock
keep_pitch defaults to false, so pitch follows speed. Set it to true to change the tempo while the song stays in its original key.
Works on clips you already have
Pass the clip_id from any earlier Suno task. There is no upload step, and the original clip is left untouched.
Named output clips
Add a title such as My Song (1.25x) so speed variants are easy to tell apart from the original in your library or dashboard.
Best for
Slowed versions
Set the multiplier below 1 and let the pitch drop with it. Add reverb in your own mix step if you want the full slowed-and-reverb style.
Sped-up cuts for short-form video
A multiplier around 1.2 to 1.3 fits more of the hook into a short clip and gives the brighter, higher sound common on social feeds.
Tempo matching
Turn on keep_pitch and use target BPM divided by current BPM as the multiplier to fit a track to a set or a video edit.
Practice tracks
Slow a song to 0.75x with the pitch locked so singers and players can learn their parts at a lower tempo in the right key.
Nightcore-style variants
Speed a track up with pitch following tempo and keep the result as a separate clip next to the original.
Use cases
A music app can put a speed control under each generated song that calls the endpoint with the chosen multiplier and lists the result as a new version. A short-form video tool can generate a track, request a 1.25x copy for quick edits, and keep the original for longer cuts. A fitness or DJ app can lock the pitch and move several tracks to the same BPM so they play back to back without jumps. If only part of a song needs the new tempo, cut it first with the Suno Crop API and then change the speed of the cropped clip.

It takes a clip from an earlier Suno generation and returns a new clip played at a different tempo. You set speed_multiplier between 0.25 and 4.0, and the source clip stays as it was.
By default, yes. With keep_pitch left at false, speeding up raises the pitch and slowing down lowers it, the same as changing tape speed. Set keep_pitch to true to change the tempo and keep the song in its original key.
0.25x to 4x. Values below 1 slow the clip down and values above 1 speed it up. The playground steps in increments of 0.01, so you can enter an exact ratio such as 1.07.
Divide the tempo you want by the tempo the clip has now. A 100 BPM clip that needs to sit at 120 BPM takes a multiplier of 1.2. Turn on keep_pitch if the track has to stay in key with the rest of a set.
From the clips array of a finished Suno task, such as music generation, Extend or Cover. Suno edits return clips in the same format, so you can also change the speed of a clip that was already cropped or faded.
