What is Suno Fade?
Suno Fade, model ID suno-ai/fade, adds a fade in, a fade out, or both to a clip you already have. Like the other Suno edits it works on the output of an earlier Suno generation: pass that clip_id, then set fade_in_s for the length of the fade at the start and fade_out_s for the length of the fade before the end. At least one of the two is required. There is no model version and no new music is generated, only a volume change at the edges. You can name the result with title. The task returns a new clip and leaves the source untouched. It is the finishing step after a crop or any generation that ends on a hard stop.
Key features of Suno Fade
Four features cover how the fade call works.
Fade in, fade out, or both
Send fade_in_s, fade_out_s, or both in one request. At least one of the two is required.
Lengths measured from the edges
fade_in_s counts from the start of the clip and fade_out_s counts back from the end. Both take decimal seconds, such as 3 or 4.5.
Non-destructive output
The fade is applied to a new clip with its own ID. Keep the original for a different fade length or another edit.
No generation step
Fade takes no mv and only changes volume at the edges. It is currently not billed; check the pricing page for the live status.
Best for
Smoothing abrupt endings
Add a few seconds of fade_out_s to songs that stop on a hard cut.
Finishing cropped clips
A crop leaves sharp edges. A short fade on both ends makes a preview sound finished.
Background music
A slow fade in lets a track enter under a voice-over or a video without a jump in volume.
Clean loop points
Short fades at both ends help clips join when they play back to back.
Consistent playlists
Apply the same fade lengths to every track so starts and endings match across a set.
Use cases
A video editor can fade the music under a clip by sending the user's chosen fade lengths straight to fade_in_s and fade_out_s before rendering. A preview pipeline can run Suno Crop to get a 30-second range and then call fade with a short fade on each end, so every preview starts and stops cleanly. A podcast tool can add a long fade out to an intro theme so it sits under the host. Once the fade is done, the Suno WAV Download API gives you the result as a WAV file for mastering.

It adds a volume fade to the start of a Suno clip, the end, or both. fade_in_s sets how long the fade in lasts from the start, and fade_out_s sets how long the fade out lasts before the end. The result is a new clip.
No, but you must pass at least one. Send only fade_out_s to smooth an ending, only fade_in_s to soften a start, or both in one request.
