What is Suno Cover Art?

Suno Cover Art makes artwork for a song. You send the clip_id of a Suno clip the art belongs to, plus a prompt describing the image, and each request returns two images to choose from. There are two quality tiers. basic, the default, can be steered with up to four reference images, either as hosted files in image_urls or as the IDs of earlier cover-art results in image_ids. advanced produces more detailed images and works from the prompt alone. The default aspect ratio is 1:1 for standard album art, with 16:9 and 9:16 available for banners and vertical posts. Unlike the audio edits, the result is an images array, not a new clip.

Key features of Suno Cover Art

Five parts of the request shape the result.

Two images per request

Every job returns a pair of images, each with an id, a hosted url and a thumbnail_url, so users always have a choice.

Basic and Advanced quality

quality set to basic supports reference images. advanced gives more detail from the prompt alone, for the final cover once the direction is settled.

Up to four reference images

On basic, pass PNG, JPEG or WebP files up to 10 MB each in image_urls to keep a band photo, logo or earlier artwork style in the new cover.

Remix earlier results

Pass the id of a previous cover in image_ids to build on it. URL and ID references count toward the same limit of four.

Square, wide or tall

aspect_ratio defaults to 1:1. Use 16:9 for headers and video thumbnails, or 9:16 for stories and vertical feeds.

Best for

Release artwork

Generate a square cover for a single or an album right after the song is made, with no separate design tool.

Matching art to a mood

Describe the feel of the track in the prompt, such as a melancholic empty room in soft light, and pick the better of two results.

Series with a shared look

Feed the same reference images into every basic request so an EP or a playlist series looks like one set.

Playlist and channel thumbnails

Use 16:9 for video thumbnails and channel headers, or 1:1 for playlist covers.

Social posts for a track

Render a 9:16 version for stories and vertical feeds alongside the square cover.

Use cases

A music generation app can call Cover Art as soon as a song from Suno music generation finishes, show both images, and save the one the user picks as the track artwork. A label tool can upload an artist's press photos as references and generate covers that keep the artist's look across releases. The image IDs also feed the Suno AI Video API, which accepts a cover-art result as the first or last frame of a short video for the same song.
