Flux.2 is Black Forest Labs' December 2025 image family, and on UnificAlly every Flux.2 route bills per image by resolution preset: the balanced Flux.2 Pro API costs $0.03 at the default 1 MP, $0.045 at 2 MP and $0.06 at 4 MP, and the 0.6 MP preset costs the same as 1 MP. Each reference image you attach adds its own charge. Five variants share one request shape and five different rate cards: Pro, Max, Flex, Klein 9B and Klein 4B. This post is the Flux 2 pricing breakdown for developers: what one image costs at each preset, what reference images add, what 100, 1,000 and 10,000 images cost a month on each variant, where Arena ranks them, how the rates compare with other image models on the platform, and the exact request the routes accept.

TL;DR: Flux.2 bills per image on UnificAlly, by preset. At the default 1 MP: Pro $0.03, Max $0.07, Flex $0.05, Klein 9B $0.015 and Klein 4B $0.014. The first megapixel carries most of the price, so 2 MP and 4 MP cost more per image but never two or four times as much, and 0.6 MP saves nothing. Reference images are billed on top. 1,000 Pro images at 1 MP cost $30; the same batch on Klein 9B costs $15. Our call: Pro is the production default, Klein 9B is the draft engine, and Max earns its rate only on final key art. On Arena's text-to-image board (October 7, 2026) the three big variants sit within 9 points of each other (Max 1162, Flex 1157, Pro 1153), so paying more than Pro buys the 5:4 ratio or the diffusion knobs, not a visibly better picture.

How much does the Flux.2 API cost?

Every Flux.2 route charges a fixed price per finished image, set by the resolution preset (0.6, 1, 2 or 4 MP). The first megapixel is the flat base price, and each megapixel above it adds a smaller step, so a 4 MP image costs more than a 1 MP image but well under four of them. The 0.6 MP preset is billed at the 1 MP price. Reference images (up to 10 on any variant) are billed extra, a charge per image attached, listed on the pricing page. The seven aspect ratios, the seed, and Flex's steps and guidance controls cost nothing extra. The rates below refresh from the live price list on every deploy.

The per-image price at each preset, before any reference images, is the table to budget from:

Variant0.6 MP1 MP (default)2 MP4 MP
Flux.2 Pro$0.03$0.03$0.045$0.06
Flux.2 Max$0.07$0.07$0.10$0.13
Flux.2 Flex$0.05$0.05$0.10$0.15
Flux.2 Klein 9B$0.015$0.015$0.017$0.019
Flux.2 Klein 4B$0.014$0.014$0.015$0.016

Two things to read off it. First, the price climbs much more slowly than the pixel count: Flex climbs fastest, Pro and Max sit in between, and the Klein pair barely moves. Second, the Klein models are priced far below the big three at every preset, which is why they exist: a 4 MP Klein 9B image ($0.019) costs less than a 1 MP Max image ($0.07). On reference-heavy work, count the references too, because ten of them on one request can cost more than the image itself. Failed tasks are not billed. The pricing page lists every image model side by side.

Flux.2 cost per month at 100, 1,000 and 10,000 images

At the default 1 MP preset, monthly cost is the image count times the 1 MP price. For 2 MP or 4 MP, multiply the count by that preset's price from the table above; the figures grow far more slowly than the pixel count. Add the reference charge for any request that carries image_urls.

Images per month (1 MP)Flux.2 ProFlux.2 MaxFlux.2 FlexKlein 9BKlein 4B
100$3$7$5$1.50$1.40
1,000$30$70$50$15$14
10,000$300$700$500$150$140

The workflow that keeps the numbers small: draft on Klein 9B at 1 MP, lock the images you want to keep with a seed, then re-render only those on Pro at the delivery preset. A team that drafts 1,000 images on Klein 9B and promotes 100 of them to Pro at 2 MP pays $15 plus $4.50, against $45 for 1,000 Pro images at 2 MP. Every variant takes the same prompt, aspect_ratio, resolution, image_urls and seed, so the promotion is a model-id change. There is no subscription and the balance does not expire.

Flux.2 Pro vs Max vs Flex vs Klein: what each rate buys

Flux.2 family on Arena text-to-image: Max 1162, Flex 1157, Pro 1153, Klein 9B 1070 at rank 62, Klein 4B 1030

Arena's human-vote boards (text-to-image dated October 7, image edit October 6, 2026) put the three big variants in a tight band and the two Klein models a tier below:

VariantPer image (1 MP)Text-to-image rank (score)Image edit rank (score)What it adds
Flux.2 Max$0.07#29 (1162)#34 (1262)5:4 ratio, tuned for maximum quality
Flux.2 Flex$0.05#30 (1157)#41 (1225)steps and guidance controls
Flux.2 Pro$0.03#32 (1153)#36 (1245)The balanced production default
Flux.2 Klein 9B$0.015#62 (1070)#42 (1225)Fast drafts, open weights
Flux.2 Klein 4B$0.014#70 (1030)#49 (1187)Smallest, runs locally too

The honest read: Max costs $0.07 against Pro's $0.03 at 1 MP for 9 Elo points on text-to-image, which the vote margins cannot distinguish, so its rate buys the 5:4 editorial ratio and a quality ceiling you will only see on final key art. Flex costs more than Pro for the diffusion knobs, and it is the variant where large presets climb fastest, so sweep a look at 1 MP and render the final elsewhere. Flux.2 Klein 9B is the surprise: on image edit it ties Flex at 1225 for a fraction of the price, so for reference-guided edits it is the cheapest Flux.2 route with no quality penalty against the mid tier, and its per-reference charge is among the smallest in the family. Flux.2 Max and Flux.2 Flex stay on the shelf until a brief names what they add; Flux.2 Klein 4B is for thumbnail grids and local runs.

How Flux.2 pricing compares with per-image models

Per 1 MP (or 1K) image on UnificAlly today, with the text-to-image rank beside it:

ModelPer imageArena text-to-image rank (Oct 7, 2026)
Flux.2 Klein 9B$0.015#62
Nano Banana 2.1 (1K)$0.02#6
Flux.2 Pro$0.03#32
Qwen Image 2.0$0.0245not ranked (2.0 Pro: #21)
Seedream 5.0 Pro (1K)$0.03#12
GPT Image 2.5 Flare (1K)$0.03#2
Flux.2 Max$0.07#29

Against that field, Flux.2 Pro is the mid-priced option with a mid-table rank, and Nano Banana 2.1 beats it on rank at 1K. Two practical rules follow from how Flux.2 is priced now. Default to 1 MP: the 0.6 MP preset costs the same, so shrinking a thumbnail only throws away pixels you already paid for. And if you need large files, Klein is where 4 MP costs almost nothing extra: a 4 MP Klein 9B image costs $0.019 against $0.015 at 1 MP, so render Klein drafts at full size and skip the upscale step. If everything you ship is 1K and rank matters more than price, test Nano Banana 2.1 first.

How to call Flux.2 at the price you planned

One API key, POST /v1/tasks, and resolution set to the preset you priced above. This is the request from the Flux.2 Pro docs page, a 2 MP portrait billed at $0.045 when it completes.

curl -X POST https://api.unifically.com/v1/tasks \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
  -d '{
    "model": "black-forest-labs/flux.2-pro",
    "input": {
      "prompt": "A photorealistic portrait of a woman in golden hour light",
      "aspect_ratio": "9:16",
      "resolution": "2mp"
    }
  }'

Change resolution to 1mp for the default price (0.6mp costs the same), add image_urls with up to 10 references (each one adds a charge, see the pricing page), and swap the model id for black-forest-labs/flux.2-klein-9b to draft or black-forest-labs/flux.2-max to finish. The response returns a task_id; poll GET /v1/tasks/<task_id> or set callback_url. Full field reference: docs.unifically.com/models/image/flux/flux.2-pro.

Flux.2 Pro FAQ

How much does the Flux.2 Pro API cost?

Flux.2 Pro costs $0.03 per image on UnificAlly at the default 1 MP preset, $0.045 at 2 MP and $0.06 at 4 MP; 0.6 MP is billed the same as 1 MP. Each reference image adds a separate charge, listed on the pricing page. Aspect ratio and seed are included. Failed tasks are not billed.

What does a Flux 2 image cost at 1 MP?

Flux.2 Pro $0.03, Max $0.07, Flex $0.05, Klein 9B $0.015 and Klein 4B $0.014. Larger presets cost more per image, though far less than the pixel count suggests (Pro is $0.06 at 4 MP), and reference images are billed on top.

Is a smaller Flux.2 resolution cheaper?

No. The 0.6 MP preset costs the same as 1 MP on every Flux.2 variant, because the first megapixel is billed as one flat price. Use 1 MP as the floor and only step up to 2 MP or 4 MP when the destination needs the pixels.

Do reference images cost extra on Flux.2?

Yes. Each image in image_urls adds a per-reference charge on top of the image price, and the charge differs by variant (the Klein models have the smallest). The current amounts are on the pricing page.

What do 1,000 Flux.2 images cost a month?

At 1 MP, $30 on Pro, $70 on Max, $50 on Flex, $15 on Klein 9B and $14 on Klein 4B, before any reference charges. Drafting on Klein 9B and promoting the best ones to Pro keeps a mixed month close to the Klein figure.

Is Flux.2 Max worth more than Pro?

On Arena's text-to-image board (October 7, 2026) Max scores 1162 and Pro 1153, a 9-point gap inside the vote margins, while Max costs $0.07 per 1 MP image against $0.03 for Pro. Max adds a 5:4 aspect ratio and is tuned for maximum quality on final key art; for everything else Pro is the better buy.

How much does Flux 2 Klein 9B cost?

$0.015 per image at 1 MP and $0.019 at 4 MP, plus a small charge per reference image. It takes the same prompt, aspect ratio, resolution, reference images and seed as Pro, without the Flex-only steps and guidance controls, and on Arena's image-edit board it ties Flex at 1225.

What is the cheapest way to try the Flux.2 API?

New UnificAlly accounts get a $0.50 signup balance, enough for 16 Flux.2 Pro images or 33 Klein 9B images at 1 MP without references, with no subscription. After that, billing is pay-per-use and the balance never expires.

What will change this post

We will update the rate tables when Black Forest Labs changes the Flux.2 rates or adds a variant, when Flux 3 image models reach the platform and take the headline row, and when the Flux.2 rows move on Arena by enough to change the ordering above. Prices on this page refresh from the live price list on every deploy, so the tokens stay current between those updates.
